Sophie Blok works as an investigative radio journalist for Dutch investigative journalism platform Argos. Having a background in environmental sciences she has a passion for stories about sustainability issues, such as Money to Burn, an international collaboration exploring the impact European subsidies for biomass has on Baltic forests. Other topics she has worked include the use of CCTV in Dutch municipalities; the environmental and economic impact of the draughts that hit The Netherlands in 2018 and 2019 and how bonuses for PhDs have become a lucrative business for Dutch universities
